Founded in 1978 by Cecil Ford as Ford’s Automotive, it became a cornerstone of the community under the leadership of his son, Ray Ford, who purchased the business in 1981. For over 40 years, Ray built an exceptional legacy of serving multiple generations of customers with honesty and dependability. In early 2021, Ray retired and passed the torch to Matthew Schwab, owner of Clutch Automotive. Matthew and his team are honored to continue the Ford family’s tradition of exceptional service and reliability in the Friendswood community.

Hector Mendez, the General Manager of our Friendswood location, brings a unique blend of cultural heritage and Houston hospitality to Clutch Automotive. Born in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and raised in Houston’s Heights area, Hector embodies warmth, authenticity, and dedication. Fluent in both Spanish and English, Hector connects effortlessly with a diverse clientele, ensuring every customer feels welcomed and valued.

Beyond the shop, Hector’s vibrant personality shines through his passions—playing acoustic guitar, sharing meaningful conversations, and exploring Houston’s culinary gems.
